How To Stay Motivated To Do The Impossible | Dr. Slava Shut

In life, we’ve all decided to start something without thinking it all the way through. That’s life. You don’t always get the time, the money, or the resources to do what you want to do.

Sometimes, we give things up so that we can have something better. We might run into difficulties that we didn’t expect and maybe even abandon goal altogether. You can’t have it all, but if you think about it, you probably don’t want it all. You want the best!

Welcome to Topic Tuesdays, where we focus on a specific topic in business, finance, or life in general.  Today, I want to share a wealth mindset secret to improve your life in all these aspects by unlocking your ability to achieve the goals you didn’t think you could. You’ll never know what you’re capable of until you take that first step.

So what is that first step?

Commit To Yourself

When you know what you want, you’ll know what you are. Your goals give you direction. Your drive gets you there. These pieces work together like an engine and wheels; you can’t have one without the other, or you’re going nowhere. Even if you’re the most driven person, without a clear objective in sight, you’ll just be spinning your wheels and running into the same problems over and over again. If you want something but you’re not willing to put forth any effort to get it, you’ll likely never get it.

As with most things in life, there’s a certain balance you need in order to reach success. You need the ability to stay motivated even when things get tough. If you’ve truly commited to achieving a goal, you’ve already established why you need to push through the difficult times. When things start to seem impossible, look back at your decision to embark on this journey. Connect with the version of you that made this decision to get started and examine why you did it. Remembering why you started will keep you motivated to get to the finish.

This is why it’s so important to commit to your goals completely BEFORE you start to work toward them. If you didn’t have a good reason to get started, you won’t have a good reason to keep going.

Staying Motivated

Finding your path in life is not an easy thing to do. Making the discovery of what fulfills you is difficult enough. Once you find your passion, your journey is just starting at that point. You’ve got a long road ahead of you still. While you’re working toward your dreams you’re bound to come upon bumps in the road. As a physical therapist, I’m blessed by G-d to be able to help people get past some of their physical obstacles.

Today, people working toward their dreams sometimes get a little sidetracked. It’s easy to get hung up on balancing your work, personal/family life, finances, and health. If you’re one of the millions of people working your way toward a dream, you know that sometimes you have to put some goals on pause. You might have to give up something to get to where you’re trying to go.

Life is going to be full of changes, tough decisions, and roadblocks. Your commitment level is going to determine what you do when you hit a rough patch. Everything we do in life requires a level of commitment. Otherwise, it’s just dreaming.

If you’re completely driven to reach the top of Mt. Everest, you’re going to spend plenty of your time training and preparing.  You’ll make preparation a habit. Once you get to the mountain, you’re more than likely going to run into something that makes you uncomfortable; it might be the cold, or the wind. It could be the altitude and the lack of oxygen. It could just be the physical exhausting of climbing. It could be the fear of injury in such a desolate and remote place. The pursuit of goals, expecially great ones, is often uncomfortable.

But if you’re completely dedicated to reaching the summit, you’ll find a way to navigate things that come up along your path. You’ll research the routes that you’ll need to take to maximize your chances of reaching the top. You’ll bring an oxygen supply, plenty of appropriate clothing and supplies. You’ll train your body and mind to perservere through difficulties that you know you’re going to come upon. When you’ve commited fully to a task, even one as challenging as climbing Mt. Everest, is actually very doable. Luck might be a factor in some things, but many successes depend on your level of commitment.

You might feel like you got started empty handed, but sooner or later you’ll need to find the right tools in life to be able to scale it’s highest mountains.  Do you have a goal that you’re working toward? Are you ready to transform your life, one commitment at a time? I want to help you get there.  Contact my team to schedule a free 1-on-1 consultation with me, and lets turn your goals in life into the reality you live in!
