Try These Tips To STAY FOCUSED

It’s good to be able to handle multiple responsibilities in life. You often have no choice, so getting comfortable with multitasking is important, to an extent. But there’s a time for intentional, focused effort.

If you had to do laundry, wash dishes, and cook, you probably could with a little practice. But if you don’t stay focused on your overall goal of wearing clean clothes and eating a nice dinner in a clean, pleasant environment, you might lose track of something.

It happens; you get distracted and the next thing you know, a plate drops, a piece of fish gets burnt, or wet clothes get left in the dryer.

Welcome to Topic Tuesday, where we dive into a topic specifically related to business, health, or life in general. Today, we’re going to touch on strategies around something that could be the missing piece in your long-term growth strategy: focus.

Set realistic goals

If you already set an unrealistic goal, then you know how difficult it can be. First of all, there’s the period of realization, when it becomes clear that things aren’t going as expected. The most determined will keep trying to get through an impossible obstacle for a while, but eventually even they will begin to accept the futility of the attempt.

When you put effort into something and it doesn’t pan out, there might be a little frustration there. And that’s totally natural. But with that frustration, take a lesson with you. Learn something, even if it’s simply not to try that again.

Taking a step is less of a commitment than changing direction. Use this to your advantage. Setting realistic goals makes it much easier to measure progress and stick to milestones. It’s great to be ambitious, but ambition without capability is daydreaming.

Establish Routine

Routines are like #AI for your mind. Once you get with the program, you improve at the things you repeat. Getting in this groove lets you build positive habits and establish muscle memory. The more this groove gets engrained, the less conscious effort it takes to execute.

When you follow a routine long enough, the actions feel like second nature.

How do you establish a good routine?

A good goal is a great place to start. If you had to build a yellow brick road from where you are to the goal where you want to be, each brick would be a step in your routine. In this scenario, if you were to imagine a perfect routine paired with an impossible goal, you might see that you’d never accomplish anything, and you’d be busy all the time.

Be Careful

Especially when it comes to fitness routines, it’s important to be familiar with your capabilities and limitations. You should push yourself to be better and stronger. But on the other hand, you should know when it’s time to back off and give yourself a rest.

Understanding not just what you’re capable of, but how to improve most efficiently should be your goal. With most things, there’s an easier way and a harder way to accomplish a goal. If you can find an easy route to take that gets you where you need to be, you’re coming out ahead. 

So why doesn’t everyone just take the most efficient route?
