How I Changed My Life | Dr. Slava Shut

As a kid, I learned that hard work and discipline could get me the things I wanted. As I got older, I applied these same principles to my true passion of helping other people.

You may know me as a physical therapist at Back 2 Health Physical Therapy, but I know that healing and helping people on their path to health takes more than hard work in the gym. You have to optimize your life, totally and completely, if you want the best life you can have.

Welcome to Topic Thursdays, where we discuss a specific topic about finance, business, or just life in general. Today, I want to share some of my experiences to help keep you focused to transform your life for the better in all aspects – like I did.

Here are some of the pillars of my strength that let me navigate the challenges in my busy life:

Fitness

In life, we develop strength through overcoming hardships. Progressive overload is the most physically direct interpretation; the heavier the weights are that you lift, the stronger you become. Of course, there are plenty of other considerations to physical fitness and health.

Strength is useless if you’re injured all the time from overdoing it in the gym. If you benched 315 last week and can’t lift your shoulder today, are you really healthier than if you stayed home and ate ice cream?

I’m a physical therapist and I care about you, so I want to make this part clear: I’m not recommending that you eat junk food instead of going to the gym, so don’t show this to your physician and tell them Dr. Slava made you do it.

What I’m really saying is that you need the right balance of effectiveness, sustainability, and progression in order to be healthy and get stronger.

Faith

I have never been shy about my relationship with G-d, or the blessings I’ve received all my life. I love the differences between all the people in the world he created and I thank G-d for the time I have to spend here, for my family, and my close circle of friends. But it hasn’t always been easy.

Even throughout the struggles, I’ve always known that life is good. If you’re going through something, try to remember that. For me, having the ability to look to a higher power, to learn from examples and lessons was like a superpower when things seemed impossible.

Family

The way I view myself is different than how other people view me. It’s like this for you too, believe it or not. Hopefully, you believe it, and you take other people’s perspectives into account when you interact with them. If you do, you’ve probably got a few favorite perspectives, held by a few favorite people.

It’s ok, I won’t tell; I have favorites, too.

My favorite people are my family. My wife and kids give me the strength and stability I need to tackle every challenge that life throws at me. Whether it’s something with business, finance, or even something personal and specific to me, my family is my foundation.

Finance

Saving money and making money can be a major piece of your success, no matter what direction life takes you. There are all kinds of ways to save more money. Once you’re able to survive comfortably, you can start the next phase of financial freedom; saving money for the future.

Some of life’s comforts might be holding you back from your success. Cut down on costs and eliminate unnecessary expenses. Or, you can supplement your income with another source.  But to really maximize your savings, consider consulting a financial specialist.

F4

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, an investor or an employee, we all need to have control over our long term finances. Otherwise, you’ll just be suffering through all the same problems over and over.

It’s like this with all things; non-athletes still need to be healthy, and people who aren’t financial advisors still need to manage their finances.

If you’re ready to get it all together and transform your life in all aspects, schedule a 1-on-1 consultation with me today. The time is now!
